High Street in Ilford buzzed with post-Christmas shoppers. The typical cross-walks were lined with men and women holding big bags, small bags, no bags or a boat load of bags. A rather busy hum rang throughout the atmosphere. People happily, gumpily, or non-chalantly were going here, going there, really going everywhere!
Emily, Sean and I prayed as we walked our way down a street that twisted between beautiful old buildings. "God, we want to see what you see, when you look at this area. Help us to have a new perspective. We want to know how to pray for these people." This was our prayer. Walking and looking ahead, my breathe caught, the most indescribable something happened. For real? Hands in his pocket I watched him walk towards us, then pass us and I couldn't help but turn my head to watch him walk away. My heartbeat sped up. A quiet gasp. Really!? I looked forward to continue walking but turned my head back once more to check. Yep, hands in his pocket, he was still walking the general direction he passed in. "That was so cool!" I thought. ...Wow! Honestly I don't have any other way to describe what happened. It was like walking into a bubble of knowledge. An undercover angel. It was so matter of fact. Like, "hey a penny on the ground" but "hey an undercover angel". Though it wasn't so non-chalant.
I truly believe we passed an angel that day and was reminded that God is working in this area. He's stationed us where we are, for such a time as this. Though God does not need us to accomplish His desires - He wants to work through us to do so. And so began a new perspective when looking down the 'high street'. We are not alone in our work to see the Kingdom come. Thus, we prayed for more undercover angels and teams to come.
